Here's a great video from Apple about how they have revolutionised "bricks & mortar" retail.  They use the "telling, touching, understanding, engaging" philosophy to take customers on a journey.  Everything is planned. Store location. Staff recruitment and training. Point-of-sale processes that are easy and quick. Store music and displays. 

Enjoy. If you are a retailer you should try to use some of this thinking to delight your customers as well.
